How Jinkai Started
Jinkai Founders
Jinkai Initiative was conceived by Emmanuel and Pamela Gye from their passionate desire to ease the challenges faced by the most vulnerable in society. They are a Nigerian-Canadian couple born in the Jos area of Plateau State, Nigeria.
How We Designed the Shelter
We organized a Jinkai Initiative Shelter Competition (JISC) that attracted a plethora of compelling, creative and professionally executed design solutions from students in Nigeria’s Architecture schools. In reviewing submissions, it was clear to the jury that students had listened to the call and, in response, had rallied skills, understanding, innovation and inspiration to develop their solutions.
